Brooks Magratten, a partner in the Providence law firm of Pierce Atwood, and a former President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, was unanimously elected this week to the Board of Directors of the New England Legal Foundation.
The New England Legal Foundation is a non-partisan, non-profit public interest organization that advocates in state and federal courts for free enterprise, property rights, limited and good government, and balanced economic growth that benefits all persons. NELF has filed more than 500 amicus briefs providing industry perspective on cutting edge legal issues affecting New England business.
“We are thrilled to have a Rhode Island lawyer of Brooks Magratten’s stature join our Board,” said Daniel B. Winslow, President of the New England Legal Foundation.
“Rhode Island industries contribute more than $61 billion annually to the US economy, creating jobs and opportunity for all Rhode Islanders, so it is critically important that legal decisions account for their larger impact on the state’s economy.”
Brooks Magratten said “The New England Legal Foundation has emerged as the leading and authoritative voice for the protection of free enterprise in our society. I am honored to have been selected to serve of the NELF Board and support its advocacy.”
