BOSTON – The New England Legal Foundation (NELF – www.newenglandlegal.org), the leading legal advocate for free enterprise and innovation in the region, has appointed David Mahoney to its Massachusetts Advisory Council.

David Mahoney serves as Senior Corporate Counsel at Abiomed, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech.  In this role, he provides legal support for the clinical trial, medical and regulatory affairs teams. Previously, Mahoney held the position of Senior Corporate Counsel at Indigo Ag as well as U.S. General Counsel for Lion Bioscience (later renamed Sygnis Pharma) and U.S. General Counsel for Febit, an international biotechnology and scientific device company.  His professional experience has also included serving as legal counsel for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Office of the General Counsel.

As an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University, Mahoney teaches courses covering laws and regulations governing food, drugs and medical devices as well as intellectual property. He was a contributing author for content addressing legal protection of information and personal data in the book, Building the Future of Food Safety Technology, Blockchain and Beyond.

David holds a Juris Doctor, with distinction, from Suffolk University Law School concentrating in Health and Biomedical Law and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.

NELF Advisory Councils play a crucial role in shaping the Foundation’s stances on public policy issues affecting the innovation economy and free enterprise. The Advisory Councils also host guest speakers at locations convenient to members in each state.
