NELF Welcomes Kenneth Burdon of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett to Massachusetts Advisory Council

Boston, MA – November 4, 2024— The New England Legal Foundation (NELF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth Burdon, Partner in Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s Registered Funds Practice, to NELF’s Massachusetts Advisory Council. Based in Boston, Mr. Burdon brings extensive expertise in investment fund management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.

In his role at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Mr. Burdon advises a wide range of financial services clients, including registered investment funds, business development companies (BDCs), and investment advisors. His experience spans product development, regulatory and compliance issues, mergers and acquisitions, and other complex transactions, as well as in routine and non-routine governance and regulatory relief matters. He also counsels BDCs and closed-end funds on IPOs, capital raising, and innovative financial products.

Mr. Burdon is a leading figure in the closed-end fund industry, with particular influence in corporate governance and shareholder activism. His expertise has been recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers USA in the Registered Funds category, and he was previously named a Rising Star by IFLR1000 and Fund Action.

Mr. Burdon’s background in law and finance began at Boston University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in 2004 and his J.D. in 2007, also summa cum laude, and served as an Editor of the Boston University Law Review. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
