MANCHESTER, NH – The New England Legal Foundation (NELF – www.newenglandlegal.org) has appointed Attorney Jim Merrill – Managing Shareholder of Bernstein Shur’s New Hampshire office and one of the Granite State’s most respected communications and public affairs professionals – to its New Hampshire Advisory Council.
Merrill provides strategic, grassroots, legislative advocacy and media solutions for a wide variety of corporate and non-profit clients. He served as Marco Rubio for President senior advisor and consultant in 2015-16 overseeing the campaign’s activities in New Hampshire and regionally. In 2007-08, Merrill served as campaign manager for the Mitt Romney for President campaign in New Hampshire and as a senior advisor and general consultant to the Romney for President campaign in 2011-12. Formerly, he was a staff member for former New Hampshire Governor Stephen E. Merrill and at the New Hampshire Departments of Health and Human Services.
In 2023, Merrill was named as one of the Best Lawyers in America for government relations practice, and in 2021, he was named by the New Hampshire Business Review as one of New Hampshire’s 200 Most Influential Business Leaders. Merrill serves as a Director for Bernstein Shur, the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, the Union Leader Corporation, and the Greater Manchester Mental Health Center.
NELF Advisory Councils help develop the Foundation’s positions on public policy matters and often recommend legal advocacy for consideration by NELF’s Board of Directors on issues of importance to the region’s economy. The Advisory Councils also host speakers of interest to their particular sector of the economy at locations convenient to members in each state.
